I use the Windows Disk Cleanup Tool, and do the rest of it manually. I don't trust "Cleaner" programs.

I'll leave it to other members to recommend some programs. :)

I would be very careful with those cleaning programs. Usually they do more harm than good.

    Hi,
Best performance gain might be to get rid of Avast it is pretty bloated to some systems.

Hate to turn this into a av debate but Panda is working out very well in my eye's and systems :)
See the link above my signature "Junkware Removal" might be a good place to start

I use Avast (Free) and it will give you those messages. I get them every once in a while. I can assure you that my PC is bare bones on apps. They want you to buy another version to fix what they say is wrong. Kinda like the cleaner (Free) programs. They will scan you PC and tell you you have 1,143 registry issues and etc. I would not recommend using a cleaner or some kind of tech in a box program. I just fixed a PC for someone that did and they were lucky they did not lose everything. This is my 2 cents worth.

The only popup I see in Panda is connect an email account if you manually start it which you can pass or select later
It also has a Panda news box you can uncheck in it's settings
I like it so far :)

The only tool I recommend is CCleaner, it`s has always worked fine.

Just use it to do a disk cleanup, and cleanup the registry with it too, that`s it.
