Windows 7 Ultimate x64 performance problems. Need any help.

Hello. Three days ago I installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 on my PC. I've had the x32 version for half a year and I wanted to install the x64 one. After I did, I noticed a slight performance loss in games like Minecraft, Warframe and such. These worked fine on my old Windows x32. I proceeded to install every single update found in Windows Update and installed drivers for every device I had, including the graphics card. Still, in games I get random lag spikes every 2 or so seconds that last less than a second but are kind of annoying. I proceeded to download Java 32x for my browser (Mozilla Firefox) and Java 64x for Minecraft. I talked to Microsoft Tech Support Desk and they ran a Windows Fix It tool on my desktop. That finished fast and the info was sent to Microsoft, and after all of that, the performance drop is quite visible and hasn't gotten better. I should mention that I have 3GB of RAM that worked fine with x32 Windows and that I tried scanning for viruses, CCleaner, searching for more updates, safe mode driver reinstallation and nothing.

If anyone has anything helpful to suggest, please leave it below.

    Welcome to the Seven Forums

I think most likely your problem is having only 3 GB of RAM and using 64-bit, 64-bit should have a minimum of 4 GB of RAM preferably more.

Yes, but I would check with the manufacturer website and see how much RAM you can use some are very limited.

I can use a maximum of 4GB :/ I don't know if I should buy the ram. 1 GB of RAM doesn't seem like it would help all that much

You should always max out your ram, yes 4 is better then 3.

It`s time to upgrade your board and equipment if 4 GB is all it will support.

PixelRed I have a small suggestion. Put in your system spec's what motherboard your system has. That should help these good members guide you.

Okay. Here are my specs, from CPU-Z. The full specs are attached as a .txt file. The motherboard info:

    Manufacturer: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
    Model: P5LD2-X

Memory: DDR2 Dual Channel and I have 3GB already slotted in.

If you need any information like the look of the motherboard and/or how many sticks there are, tell me and I'll open up and check.
