I opened it up and it has DDR3, I'm going to buy 4GB (2x2) on Newegg today. Nobody local had any in stock.
The computer in question is a Compaq 500B MT, the motherboard is H-IG41-uATX

Well it went from this is post #8
Then in post #11It's a HP desktop, don't know the model number but Speccy is telling me the motherboard is a Foxconn 2A8Ch.
Which I think are the same motherboards, just branded different. The computer in question is a Compaq 500B MT, the motherboard is H-IG41-uATX

I have no idea where that information was gathered. Some info says DDR2 and some says DDR3.
I know Speccy gives that information; but that Speccy (copy & pasted) information has not been posted, I thought I would play it safe and recommend visually inspecting the installed ram.
I thought it was a HP because all the work computers are HP. Speccy listed the motherboard as Foxconn 2A8Ch.
I was getting conflicting info from different sites so I went in on my day off and opened the computer. It does in fact have DDR3 and that's when I saw the motherboard is a H-I41-uATX. I used that info to find the webpage: HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - Motherboard Specifications H-I41-uATX (Eton) | HP® Customer Support which shows the correct motherboard and info.
I ordered the new memory and hope to have it by Tuesday or Wednesday.
I also forgot that it needs to be blown out. The CPU heat sink has a lot of dust in it.
If you haven't had a good cleaning, including heat sink compound, now is a good time.
That would give your new ram a nice clean house to be installed in.
I'll see what the user of the computer wants to do. He uses it from the time he comes in to the time he goes home. Not sure if I'll have the time. Maybe if he takes lunch and I'm there when he's not.
I was looking at the computer today. I unchecked a couple things in msconfig and he already noticed a quicker computer when switching between open programs. If I have time tomorrow, I'll uninstall stuff he no longer needs.
Still waiting on memory.
It would be helpful if you could post pictures of msconfig/Startup and Non Microsoft Services on this troubled computer.
Use this tutorial by Brink to post the pictures.

Hi,
If you uncheck an item from msconfig and then uninstall the item it will leave a Unknown listing
Recheck anything you plan on removing :)
