The hard disk free space keeps dropping

Last night, the available free space on my computer's hard disk was 8.11GB. Today, it's at 7.77GB. I did not install anything or download anything, either last night or today. The free space has been dropping down like this for days. What could be the cause of it?

Suspect its the definition files on your AV, also run disk cleanup (both options).
On another note re your specs get some more RAM 2GB is the bare minimum for 64bit

I don't know what is using your free space but I do know you need at least 10% at a minimum . Many things will not work properly without enough free space.
Windows 7 need elbow room to work properly.

Thanks all. I tried several solutions. I deleted some files and moved others to an external hard drive. I also temporarily uninstalled my antivirus. I also uninstalled some programs that I haven't used in a long time or that I didn't need. All in all, I think the problem may have been due to files in the Windows Temp folder, which were taking up a lot of space. I have since deleted those files, which cleared up some additional space on the hard drive. The amount of free space hasn't budged so far.

Did you (move) or (copy) from the internal drive to the external drive?

    Two things I use.

    Ccleaner
Windows 7 built in disk cleanup.

Did you or did you not read Brinks tutorial in post #2.
A lot of good information in that tutorial.

1)I moved from the internal drive to the external.
2)I did read the tutorial, and that's where I got some of the ideas. I also used disk cleanup.
