Defrag your disk and try again.
Most XP programs can run under Win 7 on compatible mode. Did you try to install them under Win 7?
To install win XP you should do it on a Virtual Machine as you probably wont find the drivers for your system.
I have read somewhere that I should never defrag an ssd and this might damage it.
I tried running the program in compability mode (SP2 and SP3) and it didnt work.I tried reinstalling it .Still did not work. I tried running the program in virtualbox(xp sp3) and it worked fine , but it did not recognize the device.
I didn't know it's a SSD. Despite SSDs don't need to be defragmented, it don't damage it. As SSD is a flash memory, it has a number of times you can erase it. So it's not recommended to do on a regular schedule as HDD.
To shrink a partition, all data must be on the left side. You're not able to do it because there is some data at the end of the disk.
