Starts normally & as fast as always but after 10 mins gets very slow
My system starts normally and fast all around but after about 10 minutes or so it gets very slow and freezes. This profound slowdown involves everything from my keyboard to video's to internet surfing and playing chess etc... I can restart and it will run fine for about 10 minutes then start to quickly deteriorate again. When I shutdown it hangs for a very long time at several points but it starts normal speed. I can run in safe mode and not have that problem. I'm in safe mode now and everything is great besides the weird way everything appears on the screen and there's no sound. I have a huge amount of free space left on my hard drive and I have tested my system in every way imaginable X 10. I have plenty of RAM (tested by several different applications), no overheating problems (I have a monitoring system), no disc damage (I have scanned my HD numerous different times with several different programs), no viruses (scanned numerous times with very respected programs), although I did find several virus issues after I started having the problem and I removed them. I assume since I dont have the slowdown issues in safe mode that it's some corrupted file from something I installed or uninstalled fairly recently that I can not find. It must be eating up all my resources after I start up and it takes about 10 minutes for me to notice it. Oh, and I restored my system back to the oldest point it had listed which was about a week ago and it still had the slowdown issue. I have a resource monitoring program but I haven't been able to associate any spike in usage to the slowdown thing.
I have Windows 7 home edition,
a 3 year old HP Pavilion slimline,
I've never upgraded any hardware, video, sound cards or memory.
Any ideas would be very much appreciated. thanks
