    Hello

After reading this post I've just rerun a assesment after unchecking the buffer for my disc drive.
So my HDD WEI gone from 2.9 to 5.6

I know that is not really usefull but ... It's hard to let the thing just like that!

    Thanks for the tip

I think he meant top out as in your hard drive score tops out at 5.9. This raises my eyebrows too as you run the raptors. For me, a .4 difference in performance is not a wowing type of think to make me want to go the raptor way. I assumed raptors would be in the high 6's... my sata II runs a score of 5.5 like i said.

I'm assuming WEI looks at all the installed drives while checking?

My "C" drive is only a single platter, 8Mb, 80Gb drive, whilst other drives installed are 640Gb dual platter 32Mb drives.

My HDD score is 5.8, up .6 from my Vista score

This happens to me a lot. I keep re-running the test until I get the correct scores

No point in re-running the test if you have not made significant changes that would affect the hardware..

    It's buggy

Yes, there is point in re-running the tests sometimes as Windows 7 has a very buggy WEI system right now. One time it even thought my flash drive was my HDD.

If it is so buggy then there is even less reason to run the test at all, and way less reason to run it more than once. If you don't trust it and it doesn't work, why do you continue to run the test? You contradicted yourself..

You should always unplug external devices before running any kind of benchmark.

Thanks for the cache solution. My laptop's HD was getting a 3.0 as well on Win 7 and I wasn't sure why as it got a 5+ on Vista, just unchecked the box and I'm back up to a 5.2 from a 3.0 now. (Still a 3.6 index score, but that's due to the crappy video card and not really unexpected.)
