Error 87 The restorehealth option not recognized SC /SCANNOW ERROR.

    Hello,

This whole process started with me playing Path of Exile for the new season and starting to crash a lot/Blue Screening a lot (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA) which caused me to eventually reformat my computer with a clean install and that fixed the issue momentarily but i blue screened (same error) again last night.

I recently tried to update my graphics card and it said that the installation partly failed and to go to this URL and follow the steps : Error 1603 – A General Error Has Occurred During the Installation of the AMD Software Package

    I tried running the DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and the SFC /SCANNOW

DISM - error 87 the restorehealth option is not recognized in this context and there's a log (will attach to this post)

SFC - This ends up running but at the end once it's completed i get Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. I also got a log for this but i am unable to attach it here due to it's size so if you need it just let me know and i will send it to your email directly or something.

I'm not sure what's causing this and now I'm worried that my computer has something bad with the corrupt files and I'd like to fix it if anyone could help that would be great.

I have recently done a clean install of my Windows (around a week ago as well I'm assuming this is a relevant information)

PS : If you need any additional info feel free to ask I'll provide them ASAP.

    Thank you,

    Hi JNatelol,
Dism restore health option does NOT work on W7., was only introduced in W8
the equivalent is SURT - KB947821
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/downl....aspx?id=20858

As this appears to be a BSOD problem, follow the instructions here

I wasn't aware of the DISM being Win8 only but just to clarify this issue came up when i tried to update my graphics card driver it is not really blue screen related (unless you are saying the SFC corrupted files etc look like a BSOD) I don't have a good knowledge of this type of stuff honestly so i can't speculate.

Also could you tell me why the SFC is finding corrupted files but can't fix them?

I will follow the instructions you left in a little bit, much appreciated thank you!

EDIT : After downloading & trying to install the SURT i get this : Screenshot by Lightshot (it did not install not sure why)

What should i do about this?

Interesting, as you've only just re-installed, SURT should not fail.
Where did you get your install media??

As you have a retail motherboard did you update graphics driver from AMD

follow the instructions here to uninstall/re-install drivers.

I used my Windows 7 Home premium 64 bit install disk that I've had and have been using for years which was bought some years ago at a trusted retailer.

As for the drivers i downloaded them using the auto detect from AMD's website.

EDIT : After using the link you provided and uninstalling/reinstalling my drivers there's the same update i tried to do that ended up not working here's a screenshot : Screenshot by Lightshot

The version 17.3.2 is the one that partially worked last time and was causing issues, would you like me to go ahead and try it again or wait?

    Thank you.

Sorry for the late response was out for business.

Could you please give me more information on what you need from the BIOS/Chipset, I'm not quite sure how to do what you're asking me to.

    Thank you.

    Hi Jn,,

Can you post a new set of logs in the BSOD forum
there arnt any DMP files in it, follow these instructions
Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD

As driver faults cause multiple issues when your finished with them run the sfc /scannow and SURT, any problems post in Windows updates and i'll pick up.
