SFC/SCANNOW Unable to Repair Files. Unable to Install Security Updates

I was unable to install January and March, 2017 Security Rollups KB3212646, KB4012215. I am able to install other updates. I have followed a number of repair strategies (can't recall exactly) over the last 2 months and have had no success. I do remember thinking I probably had a problem with my SxS files. Most recently I have run the SURT and SFC/SCANOW numerous times over. The data/reports in my CBS logs appears to be changing, but I do not know how to read the logs. I don't know if it's related, but my computer has failed to come out of hibernate twice in the last day or two. My CBS log is attached. I take pain meds and my memory isn't good. This is my first time using Help. Thanks. P.S. 32bt 7 Home.

    http://www.sysnative.com/niemiro/apps/SFCFix.exe

keep it on your desktop we might need it later

I don't have it installed. Perhaps a bad uninstall, or maybe I tried a registry cleaner a while ago and screwed things up?? I do have '05, '10, and 2 different versions of '13 installed. I'm tempted to try installing it , but it's possible that I've tried in the past and can not install it - I'm not sure. Sounds familiar, though?

I remember now that I can not install it. The last time I tried to install it was this Feb and I got this message: Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Setup
Error 1935.An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'policy.9.0.Microsoft.VC90.CRT,version="9.0.30729.4148",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",processorA rchitecture="x86",type="win32-policy"'. Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80073712.

Update: Some Important Success. Tweaking.com fixed the "Unable to Install Security Updates" issue. Looks like a very good program. It was not able to repair the 1935 Error. From my limited research it's looking like a repair install is almost always the only fix for this error.

    Hi MkMWin7Frms,

Yes its not a bad little tool.

I was trying to find the source manifest required to fix C++

A repair install will only fix C++ if its on your repair disc

Not many programs will use that version now and if you are getting updates, i would just leave it be.

Its not a good idea to use registry cleaners they tend to do more harm than good.

I very much appreciate your help, Roy. Yes my main worry was not being able to install the security updates. I may still pursue the C++ repair while it is fresh in my mind since every once in awhile a program that interests me won't install because of it. I can upload the latest CBS log and SFCFix report if you think the source info might be present??. I'm busy this morning, though. Alternatively, I'm happy to call this problem solved, and start a new thread specifically for the c++ problem. If I don't hear from you in 24hr or so, I'll do that.

Re. "Its not a good idea to use registry cleaners they tend to do more harm than good.". Especially if you don't know what your doing. I've learned that lesson more than once, unfortunately.

    Thanks again,

    Mike
