    Stripping Win7 Starter

    Hello people of sevenforums,
As topic says I would like to strip Windows 7 Starter for my notebook, simply because i need more free ram and fast boot up time because it is being used only for hammer editor, upgraded to SSD 80gb and have 1gb of RAM, max mobo support is 2GB RAM so will upgrade soon. Any tool to suggest for striping?

Not sure what you are referring to. Striping is RAID 0 which does not effect ram. Can you clarify?

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
If you're using the factory install you'd need to clean install to get rid of the packaged stuff
Unfortunately that would require installation media and of course a activation key to activate your version of win-7.
You'd also need all of the drivers for the machine in advance wifi/.... just in case windows can't install them for you.

I Do not know a program that will Strip "un-needed" system components from a Windows Starter But there is one Site that will have information all that can be Stripped from Windows 7, some or all of which may apply to Starter, and that May or may Not be changeable in a Starter Edition.

Black Vipers Windows 7 Super Tweaks | Black Viper | www.blackviper.com

Obviously you need a way to Restore back to your current position and status with the OS, If and When a Tweak causes a complete OS failure - Not a given, but a serious possibility.

I therefore recommend that you use some type of drive imager to an external storage to give your self a safety Net - Most users here Recommend Macrium Reflect Free

Also after you get the best you can from tweaks you can create a disk image which will allow you to re-install to this condition in a number of minutes rather than the Hours a regular Re-install can take, It's also possible in some cased to install an image to other hardware (licensing not included of course)

NTlite ( not free for the removals you want).

Vlite (free) also works with win7, for some things. Removing languages, media centre, sample pictures and video, welcome center, parental controls, will ( probably ) be ok. Afterwards, I suggest you remove the vlite reg entry in the software hive.

    Just a thought.

I took a look at what 'Hammer Editor' is.
I do believe that the spec Frano35 is giving us will not be enough for this program to run properly. One or two gigs of ram is not going to get the job done.

    This is what I found.
