Laptop lags for 2 to 3 seconds in all activities.

Hi guys.I just got a laptop from my dad .He bought it 4 years ago.Now the problem it lags or freezes in all activities like when opening folders, playing videos(lag or shutters) in vlc (wmp too) and in browsers. Here is my laptop's specs:

    Toshiba Satellite L500-1GJ

    Processor:
    Intel® Core™2 Duo processor T6600
    clock speed : 2.20 GHz
Front Side Bus : 800 MHz

    System memory:
    standard : 3,072 (2,048 + 1,024) MB
    technology : DDR2 RAM (800 MHz)

    Graphics adapte:
    Mobile Intel® GMA 4500MHD

    Windows 7 Home premium 32bit

I tried reinstalling WINDOWS and tried ubuntu nothing solved, the freeze is still the same.Something I saw suspicious about the physical memory usage its uses not more than 900MB.It shows this,

    Total 2936
    cached 660
    Available 2144
    Free 1625

when I played a video using VLC.Drivers are up to date.Even tried cleaning the ram and used memtest86(no errors). any suggestions????

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
The bios thing is weird so it could very well be a overheating issue :/
AMD and Intel systems use this to monitor the temperatures
    Download Core Temp - MajorGeeks

    Use Clean boot,
Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup
Click Start and type in the search box,
    msconfig
Click on the suggestion on top or hit the Enter key,
Go to the Startup section and take some screen shots for a complete list,
Go to the Services section and on the bottom left Check the box to Hide All Microsoft services,
    Repeat the screen shots,
See the links above my signature on how to take and upload screen shots here,
    Cheers.

    Hi,
Stalling well seeing you're using a dual core processor and leaving your torrent open it might just cause low resources at times you really have to review the torrent setting to see if you're transmitting content to others as well as receiving content ?

    Hi,
I don't have a torrent so I can't give settings but they do exist to restrict you uploading to others on the internet I doubt you need torrent on startup it will start if and when you click on it :)

The temp reading wasn't bad but did show near 50c so it is getting up there.
    Follow the clean boot tutorial.

    Hi,
Might post a resource monitor screen shot of the overview section elongating all sections and enlarging the window to fill the screen to see what's going on.
Click start and type in it resource monitor you should land on the overview section.
