Window 7 Takes 2:20 boot! Why?

I have a 500 gb EVO SSD for my OS running Asus Z9PA-D8 server mb, dual xeons that tubor at 4.0, 64 gb s of 1833 ram, a very fast system. Just built this a week ago.

When I originally booted and got the "Start Windows" screen, I could sign-in and be up and running in about 10 secs or so. THEN I made a Windows Recovery Backup on another drive (44 gigs) which took like 45 minutes or more (which I was hesitating to do since I use Macrium Reflect on my removable drive.)

Now I don't know if that was the issues or not (making a Windows Recovery Backup) but all I can say is after that my system takes 2:20 to boot from the time the "Start Window" screen pops up and I wait to sing in.

I have run CCleaner, my startup programs are to a minimum, I have run antivirus, the works. I allocated 10 gig to my virtual memory for booting. Still 2:20 on the nose.

Any tips?

If the drive is MBR and the second drive is set as active than can cause this if it boots with the second drive removed then it needs setting inactive

Another cause of slow start up is the opening of a lot of programs or applications. So check what you have that has to start when the computer starts. You can check that by typing msconfig in the Search box after clicking on the Start button, when that opens click on the Startup tab. You can usually untick all of them except your anti virus program.

I deleted the Windows Recover Backup but I can try disconnecting the drive. It's my recording drive for my daw but I can test and see.

My startup programs are at a minimum, so I know startup is hanging it. Plus there wasn't anything new added as a program for startup and I didn't install any new programs before this happened. Strange for sure.

I'll try this next. Actually I have 6 drives but Ill disconnect the one (and maybe all) to test.

What BIOS you have (Legacy - MBR or UEFI - GPT)?

Open disk management. There should be only one disk set as active (the C: partition). If you find other partition active that doesn't have an OS, set as non active.

I disconnected the drive (it's for recording tracks) and it now boots normal.

I deleted all the WINDOWS BACKUP folders and emptied the trash and now with the drive connected it's back to 2:20 (hmmm).

So now what? I could move the data to another drive a reformat it then move it back. But if there's a easier fix I'm all ears.

The drive causing me issues doesn't say active. One of my other SSD drives I use for streaming samples says Active but that was connected when booting with the recording drive disconnected and my boot was fine. I only disconnected the recording drive that had the issues and it's only when that's connected I'm back to 2:20 vs 00:25 on the Start Windows screen.

If it's not a OS drive, SET it as non active.

I'll do that but it's not the drive causing the slow Start Window slow boot.
