Severe mouse lag w/HD activity, brand new install Windows 7 Pro 64bit
Hello,
I have built many computers, but this is my first using the Windows 7 OS. (Always been very happy with W2K and XP, only upgrading because of the TLS 1.1 and older security issue.)
The problem is MASSIVE hd activity when almost any ap is run. Games, browser, notepad.
When this happens the mouse is useless and can't be moved. "mouse stutter" or "lagging mouse" is how I would describe it.
But there is the kicker:
Samsung M.2 Pro 960 ssd drive. This drive benches no problem with any benchmark app at 3.3Gb/s. Using Chrystal mark, passmark, and samsung's own software.
Passmark runs the entire system and gives it good marks.
Mb is Gigabyte AB350M-D3H ver 1.0, bios is F22 (F21 also tried)
The cpu is an AMD A10 apu
Memory is DDR4 2400 Hyper.
The install is new and it's done it since day one. I ran the SP1 update and over 100 other updates from MS. It got worse after all these updates.
The HD I know is good. I tested it in 2 other computers and it's fast, no stutter. I have tried it plugged into the onboard m.2 slot and with an add in card. The drive is twice as fast on the add in card than the mb, but it still does it.
I have scanned for viruses using latest Norton. I had the problem before I put Norton on.
I have no bangs and all drivers loaded and updated.
I have deleted the swap file and set it manually to 8192 (max/min), applied, saved and rebooted.
It boots fast. Very fast. Just a few a seconds to the desktop.
When the system is idle, the mouse is fine. I can move it round mostly just fine. Very little problem. But the moment any ap runs, it's a whole different situation. HD light is going like crazy. The mouse is imposible to move.
In the past I have had this happen and one time it was a video driver issue and the other was a corrupted swap file. I deleted the swap file and let it recreate it, no diff. I have the latest video drivers. I even d/led and flashed the latest bios and the 2nd latest bios just to make sure the new one didn't have any issues (March 2018)
There are no CD, DVD or SATA drives in the system. No add in cards.
What it seems like to me is the HD is double running. It feels like I have competing drivers. And MS Win 7 did install it's own driver, but it had the same stutter. I ran the Samsung install thinking it was the MS driver but it made no difference. Both are there, but only one shows up under device manager (the samsung.)
I am truly stumped. If anyone has suggestions, I'm very happy to hear them.
Thanks!
