Win 7 Admin user Profile will not load

I've tried to get help on some sights and no one will help me with this problem. It looks as though there are a couple of ways to correct this problem. I am not confident in doing these changes because I cannot set Restore Point.

Win7, 32 Bit
Days ago my computer booted up and my desktop was rearranged. Then I was booted up as Default User. I reboot w/F8 and was back in my Admin Profile. Again today booted into Default Profile. I reboot trying F8 (It will not work as usual) and the system Boots me up as Default User. I then have to Cntl Alt Delete to go into my normal Admin User/Safe Mode. My DeskTop is gone and I’m booted in as a New User(Old Windows Look) with no Restore points. All my files look to bein the system just none of my Admin User Profile info.
I used Minimal Safe Mode in the default Safe Mode option. I ran Malwarebytes, Sophos 2.6.1 , Spybot, Adw Cleaner in Safe mode with nothing found, CC Cleaner Will not run in Safe Mode.

I ran Malwarebytes, Sophos 2.6.1 , Adw Cleaner, CC Cleaner in Normal boot with nothing found. Sophos 2.6.1 will not run Error 1606 Could not access network location.

Welcome to the forum. Your first move is to create a new administrator account before you loose control you should be able to do this by cmdline or run add a user as administrator even if your logged in with a normal account. Have you run chkdsk c: / r as a disk error is most likely cause?

Samurai Thanks so much for replying. Been working on this for 4 days so a little punch trunk. I take direction well so u may have to direct me step by step. I have not checked my disk but will list what I've done to show you what I found.

Ran sfc/ scan now

I tried to Restore in Reg and Safe but I can't get restore points.


I've found that i must rename the Admin user file and then remove and deal with the registry.


To answer you question I had a power prob in the room (computer shut down) with my computer and when I booted up again the system ran a disk check (All was good)so I have NOT Checked the disk but it was check days ago. I have not been able to set a new Admin Profile in Reg mode and was trying to back my Registry up in safe mode and got lost and have NOT tried to create one in SAFE mode.


Just direct me what you want me to do and I will stayed glued here as long as you will direct me . TY

You would first start by opening cmd. In start menu, in the search box, type in "cmd".

Right-click on cmd or cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator"

In the command line interface, type in the following command, replacing username with the desired username of the new account, and password with the desired password:

net user /add username password

Then, you would need to add the user to the administrators group, replace username with the username you used for the new account:

net localgroup administrators username /add

To confirm everything went okay, type in the following to display a list of users:

You can also use the following command the view details about the user account, and ensure they are in the administrators group (replace username with the appropriate username):

You can do it in either, I would recommend Safe Mode however

DeerDude I was able to create the NEW Admin in SAFEMODE but when I try to COPY the Corrupt Admin User Info into the NEW Admin the info does not transfer .. nothing happens. I followed the below directions.

3. Create a new account

Open Control Panel from the Start Menu and select User Account and Family Safety, then click User Accounts. Click Manage another account, then click Create another account. Enter a name for your new user (it must be different to the old one, although you can rename later). Make your new account an Administrator, and click Create Account.


4. Copy old data

You now need to copy all of your old data to your new account. First, click Start and choose Switch account. On the Login screen, click your new account to log in to it for the first time (if you don't do this, the user folder won't be created). When you're at the Desktop, log off and log into the Administrator account you used in Step 2.
Use Windows Explorer to go to your old user's folder, which is most likely: C:Users
Press Alt, click Tools and select Folder Options. Click View and make sure you've selected 'Show hidden files, folders, and drives'. Deselect 'Hide protected operating system files (Recommended). Click OK.
Select all files in this folder, except the ones that start Ntuser.dat, Ntuser.dat.log, Ntuser.ini. Press Control-C or select Copy from the Edit menu (if you don't see the menu press Alt first).
Browse to your new user's folder (most likely c:Users). Press Control-V, select Paste, or select Paste from the Edit menu (press Alt if you don't see this menu).

Interesting. So you were trying to copy all the user files and documents from the old user's folder, to the new user's folder? and you get no error or anything at all?

I'm afraid I just don't know where to go from here, maybe someone else would be willing to give you assistance with this

That, plus it would be good to know why the original profile was corrupted in the first place.
