PC getting slow - does my Chkdsk scan results tell you anything?

The last several days my computer has been getting very slow and I'm trying to figure out why. Can anybody understand the results of my Chkdsk scan? Does it give any clues as to why my computer is slowing down to a crawl?

Hi kuurt,

It appears that you have duplicated the main body of the output as they are identical!
I have had a look through and I can't see anything that jumps out at me. Perhaps other members might see a problem.

It is very difficult to know the reason why without more information!

Have you installed any new programs/software lately that could be having an impact?
Have you recently re-installed the OS and the Windows Updates is running?
Have you upgraded the Hardware?
Have you upgraded any Software?
Do you clean out the junk files etc on a regular basis?

There are obviously many many other things that could be causing this!

Have a look and see if there any new entries that have appeared in the Startup menu at boot:

Click Start > in the search box type msconfig > press Enter > click the Startup tab

David, slow PC can be due to hardware (like a bad disk) or due to software.
How is your start up (cold boot)?
Open Device manager. Is there any yellow alerts?
Open windows update and manually check for updates. Does it run forever?

Whatever it is that is causing my computer to freeze up and programs to become unresponsive, it's not doing it all the time. Just some of the time. Yesterday it didn't do it. So I thought I fixed the problem. But today it started doing it again. Whether I have several browsers open, or only one. I even tried a different browser and it still froze up. Other programs like windows media player also freezes up.

I don't think so. I have updated keefox and sticky notes, but I wouldn't think these updates would do that.

Windows updates is running and I have not recently re-installed the OS.

NO

Just updates.

Do you clean out the junk files etc on a regular basis?

No, but yesterday I did disk cleaner and deleted temp files, but didn't help.

Hopefully I attached an image of my start up files correctly. There are some things on there that I don't know what they are. So I'm not sure if I can uncheck them. I usually don't have any freezing up trouble at start up. It usually starts after I've been on the computer for a while. Could it still be start up programs?

Nope, none.

Nope, it didn't take but a second. I was up-to-date, except for 2 optional updates. One was Nivdia which I think is my graphics card drivers maybe. It wouldn't let me update it. It gave me an error code which means I already have that one installed or it would be a down grade. If my graphics card needs updating could that cause my computer to freeze up occasionally?

It's possible that this year's constant stream of dodgy W7 updates are responsible for the problem.

I don't know, it's really weird, some of the time my computer has no problems and other times it starts freezing up and not responding. It goes back and forth.

I've asked about WU because I had same problem. There was a problem with an update that prevented WU to work as it should. It began to search for updates forever and using all resources.
How much memory you have?

I ran windows memory diagnostic and it said no memory errors. Does that mean that all of my 4 gigs of memory are working fine?

So it's not a virus, it's not maleware, I ran diskcleaner and deleted temp files. Memory is apparently ok.

I downloaded Speccy to check my internal temperatures. Supposedly if the temperatures are in yellow they're ok, but if they're in orange then they're getting hot. My CPU is currently in the orange at 62 degrees C. The other temps are in yellow. The temps keep going up and down, could this be causing my computer to freeze up at times while running fine at other times?
