win7 laptop/times shows screen with "shut down options" in low right

When I turn on laptop. Sometimes. Then I must click 1 of 3 options. Why does it do this?

    Started happening not long ago.

If I am in the wrong Category, please let me know.

I will be thankful for any help.

Hi kayzzz, welcome to the Forum.

Are you talking about the area near the clock etc., if so what are the 3 options?. It could be associated with the laptops battery condition or state of charge, as this is where a battery warning would appear.

Thank you for your response Ranger4

Windows does not come up. A pale blue screen comes up. It has "Shut down options", very tiny in right lower corner. When I select that 3 options come up - one is restart, which I always select.) Left lower corner "Ease of Access" which I chose once, and it closed my computer. And a tiny picture in the middle of the screen (of a boat, which I remember selecting when I set up my computer, just don't remember why).

So it seems you are getting to what is the log on screen & as it shows a boat as you mentioned it seems that you may need to reset your User Accounts, which once you get into Windows can be accessed from Control Panel.

    Ranger4 Thank you so much

I went there and did not see anything that might need to be changed.
This started recently, and does not happen often. I think I will just deal with it and get back to my life.

I do worry about moving to Win10. I have been very sick, and my mind is not working real well, and I am afraid I will not be able to learn it. I can not even figure out SevenForums.

Thank you so much for trying to help me. I do appreciate it. Kay

Thanks for getting back & sorry to hear of your illness & hopefully you are on the mend. Don't worry too much about Windows 10 & even if you do end up with it, I am sure you will manage.
