I went ahead and did it. I will be ordering a new HDD this weekend and either clone mine or Windows 10 and see what I can do about bringing the old programs into W10 compatibility.

I cloned old HDD drive to an WD Blue SSD 500gb drive. Works great, definitely faster. Fans are running more though, as temps are a little higher.
    Usually 130's, now 150's F.
And it is using about 30% more RAM

To clone a bad disk can give you problems like BSOD as many files could be corrupted on the HDD.
My suggestion was to do a clean install.
Now that you have a new drive you should run chkdsk c: /f

Will do. I dont have time to reinstall all my stuff. Its a workhorse. So, now I have a drive that should last a while, and the old drive is there in case, just in case, I need it.
I do appreciate guidance, I really do
