    CPU at 100%

hey guys this is the second time doing a clean wipe of my comp to install 64bit windows 7. i just tried 32 and its the same problem CPU running at 100%. Ive searched around for a while and tried the disabling the HD audio control that didn't do a thing. Also im pretty sure my comp should be able to handle 64bit as i have 4gb ram, a core 2 duo 2.6. helpppppppp some one >.> or ima just go bk to XP for the moment till i can find a soloution

Let me guess: you are using AVG 9.0. Right? It has a memory leak in it. If not, some other program has a memory leak. Could you please post a screenshot of your task manager?

    Hi reddown and welcome

If your CPUis running at 100% there is something wrong. In 2 different OS'es says its hardware.

Lets first find out what is using the most

Launch task manager by right clicking the task bar.
Click the show all users, then the cpu tab on top so the process that is using the most is on top (see pic)

Use the snipping tool to make a screenshot (type snipping tool in search)
then using the attachment icon (shaped like a paperclip) in the reply form

    See pics for all three

Can anyone compare MSE to Avast yet?

I am really interested in MSE, but after putting Avast on over 100 machines without a single issue or virus, it would have to be a whole lot better.

I guessed MS was going to take the plunge one day, and when they did it would probably eventually wipe out the whole market.

They're the biggest targets, after all.

I will. I have never used Avast before, but I will post back sometime with memory usage, usability, and virus detecting capabilities.
All when I have the time.

Try a repair install to reset things. Run DVD from desktop and choose Upgrade install.

Drivers? You install the right ones? Which ones and for what bits of hardware?
