Windows 7 starts Check Disk every time it starts up

As the title says, my Windows 7 has begun to try and use chkdsk every time it starts up, and no solutions I can find online fix this. "chkntfs /x c:" didn't do anything.

I don't want to go through with the check disk because I dual boot with Ubuntu, and the last time I let it use chkdsk in that scenario, it completely wiped that partition.

    What do I do?

    Thanks in advance

[1] Have you got any other HDD's attached?
[2] Have you tried Startup Repair?

Back up the complete disk, both partitions with your Main OS, ( you could also do the backups individually from inside each OS to be totally sure.

Then you should let the system clear the issue that is triggering the need to run Chkdsk. - the issue will get worse gradually and eventually the disk will fail with possible catastrophic data loss

You may find that it would be a good idea to totally wipe the disk, runs full continuity tests on the disk (surface Check) and reformat the disk and restore the partitions

    I agree with Barman58.

    Then perform the following . . .

Under the heading chkdsk [Check Disk] - Extract The WININIT Run Data Log . . ., please run CHKDSK_Extract_The_WININIT_Run_Data_Log.bat, Option [2] from here => My BATCH PROGRAMS [Standalone] and then upload the results using the tutorial at the bottom of the above link [Upload to SevenForums . . .] and someone will look at it for you.

    I hope this helps!

"...I don't want to go through with the check disk because I dual boot with Ubuntu, and the last time I let it use chkdsk in that scenario, it completely wiped that partition..." Paul, Snick, I'm curious, how does running Windows chkdsk in the Windows partition mess up Ubuntu's partition? I want to learn how that happened.

    Disk Management

Post a screenshot of the Disk Management => Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image.
Pay special attention to Step 5.

    I hope this helps!

[1] To start with, I assume that your Win 7 OS is on the C:\ drive, is that correct?
[2] If that is the case, then you should be run either chkdsk C: /F or chkdsk C: /R, NOT chkntfs /x c:.

I think you will find that the particular chkdsk [see above posts] that he run messed it up!
