Clean boot is not the same as safe mode.
Open MSconfig and disable all non MS services and all startup programs.

You can trace startup and shutdown.
Have a look at Why it takes so long to shut down?
Okay, I tried a clean boot but it didn't help, still booted just as slowly as always. Could it have anything to do with the BIOS settings? I noticed my motherboard apparently doesn't have an option to enable CSM, only fast boot which is disabled already. Windows 7 still boots though, it just takes an insane amount of time when looking at the specs.

Ah sorry, I missed that. I followed the steps now and traced the boot and it gave me an .xml file in C:\Temp. What should I do now?

Yeah, there's a bunch of listed programs/drivers and boot times etc. What should I do with the file?

Can you post the xml file here as an attachment?
You may need to change the .xml to .xml.txt

Ok first slow down and eat some cookies, then watch some sesame street then, I would ask is this a new problem or did you change something recently? or, is this just out of the blue?
