    Slow clock

My clock is running very slow, and in fact everything is running slow. Before I replace the CMOS battery, I'd like to know if that will correct everything else running agonizingly slow as well.

If you changed the battery it would loose all bios setting so they need setting up correct or it will run slow

How would I know how to set the BIOS? I thought that was done automatically. Is there a firmware of software update I'd have to install? Or do I have to go through the BIOS and copy all the settings ahead of time?

In that case, how would you go about tweaking the BIOS? Is it possible to go back to the manufacturer and get those specs?

Right now I have two computers with dead CMOS batteries. That means when I power up the computers I have to go into the BIOS, make a few changes there, set the date and time, save the setting, and then continue with the boot. The BIOS settings, date, and time are maintained as long as the computer is plugged in. If I ever unplug the computer I have to go through this process again.

Note the computer clock maintains correct time after being set as long as the computer is plugged in. I have never seen a clock running slow on a computer.

BTW, I know I need to get new batteries so when I get to the store I will.

Besides setting date and time (which can be done outside the BIOS), what are the settings you are resetting?
