W7 will not allow me to run SFC even though I am the Administrator?

    Tried many times.

    Same result.

Seems like a simple problem but I'm stuck.

    Can you help me?

After you select the Command Prompt window to run as Administrator and then you type in
    sfc /scannow

and then you press the Enter key, what happens?

    The correct command is
    sfc /scannow

You have a single space on BOTH sides of the slash.

I have never encountered that issue, so someone else here will need to help you.
    Good luck.

The answer is very simple. Just because you are signed in as an administrator doesn't mean everything you run is running as an administrator. Your Command Prompt isn't, for a start. you need to specifically choose to run Command as an administrator. You will know you have because it will say Administrator in the title bar.

See this tutorial: Elevated Command Prompt

Only in an admin command prompt can you run sfc /scannow. Here the top one is a standard command prompt, the bottom one has been run as an administrator, it's the only one that SFC can run in.
