    Windows 7 startup

I've recently had the windows library window showing on my desktop screen when booting my PC.
I've deleted the folder contents so I get an empty libraries window on startup.
Not a biggie but I just want to open my PC to the desktop screen is all.
My PC is not password protected so I don't have to logon. It's my personal PC and only I get access.

I'm interested to know what happened. My PC didn't use to open like this. Just opened to my chosen desktop screen.
I'm thinking I need to alter a registry setting- but which one?
    Hoping someone can help.

What you see on the Desktop is a combination of two folders:
    - C:\Users"NAME"\Desktop
    - C:\Users\Public\Desktop
In this folders you can have physical files and folders or links that take you to files or folders.
Libraries is a fake folder that has links to real folders.

I didn't understand what were you seeing. Your desktop with a link to Libraries or Explorer opened on Libraries

Hi Megahertz, Thanks for getting back and greetings from the UK.
I could send you a screen shot of course but I've set my PC to simply open to my chosen wall paper. I suppose that means I've got explorer working. At the same time a reduced libraries window opens on top of the wall paper. I've removed/deleted the folders from that window- docs/video etc so an empty libraries window appears on my desktop whenever I start my PC. This is new so somethings happened- I'd just like to know what and why. I close this libraries window to clear my desktop. I like a completely uncluttered desktop.
From what you say I'm guessing that "Explorer opened on Libraries" but I wouldn't know why.
I'm happy to change settings in the registry or elsewhere if you can point me in the right direction.
    regards
    Robert

Robert, it will help me understand what you see if you could take a snapshot with the snipping tool and paste it here.

    Win 7 startup screen

    Hi Megaherz,

I've uploaded the screen view I get minus the task bar at the bottom.
It's that pesky libraries window I want removed.
I want to open up to an empty view of my wall paper which changes every ten minutes.
    Hope you can advise me.
    Thanks.
    Robert

There is one place to check what runs o startup
Open a CMD window as administrator and type
    msconfig

On the startup tab, is there any Explorer instruction there?

    Windows 7 startup

    Hi Megahertz,
    Thanks for trying anyway.
As you can see my virus checker and CCleaner is set to open on startup
    - which is fine. I access them from the icon box in the bottom right hand corner of my screen.
I'm not aware that I have made any settings anywhere which generates the libraries windows opening up
    as you can see.
Some setting somewhere in Windows 7 has made this happen. I'd just like to know what and where it is.
Like many things I feel an entry in the registry needs to be changed. I understand libraries as a function
of Windows 7- I don't deliberately use it but I don't want it showing on my startup screen.
This is an issue others have come across- a google search on this will throw up a lot of suggestions from many people.
You-tube as well. I've checked with many of them and none of them solve my particular situation.
I'll have to keep looking and believe you me - if I do find the answer I will be sharing it.
    regards
    Robert

Don't you have a System Restore Point to go back to a date before it began happening?
