As stated, you don't need a battery at all to run a computer, it just became a "smaller desktop" computer instead of a notebook, in that it'll power off when you disconnect it or power goes off. But there is no limitation at all, it could run its entire lifetime without a battery at all and it'll work just fine, you only lose the ability to move it far from the wall socket.
Personal note here, I've got a notebook with a dying battery and finally ended up removing it when it no longer could power the computer at all. I continued to use the computer for 3 or 4 more years (if memory serves) without the battery without any major problem.
Why would you ever ask this on a public forum? The question certainly doesn't needs this kind of private data to be answered and if it does, you could direct the OP to the relevant support site and let he enter the private details there.
That's really not exactly "private" information...
