    Windows explorer is being slow.

Well, long story short, my windows explorer feels way to slow, when browsing folders. Usually takes 5-7 sec to open a folder, even if it's empty inside.

The issues happens on all my 3 hard disks, of which 2 are indexed. Running windows 7 64bit professional, with i5 CPU and 4gb dual channel RAM.

Here is a SS of all my process running, any ideas what may be slowing explorer down? Any help is really appreciated, problem is driving me nuts >.<

Very possibly it is your A/V. Turn off your A/V and see if problem persists. You may

want to stay off the internet while you are without protection, just to stay safe.

It appears a lot of people are having troubles with Kasperskyand Windows 7. Try uninstalling it for the time being.

Thank you for the reply! If by A/V you meant anti virus, I tried to turn off kaspersky and browse some folders, but noticed almost no increase in performance. It still takes me about 4 secs to open a folder, while on my laptop it is close to instant.

This is a clean install of Win 7, even thou I saved quite a few files from old win xp, if that helps.

Right-click on the taskbar and start Task manager.

See what processes are using the most resources.

I attached SS of my processes running, on top are msn messenger, firefox, skype, and explorer.exe

However if two user above suggest it may be KIS related, I might as well try some other antivirus, I heard that Microsofts security essentials is quite decent, unless anyone can recommend any better?

I think Microsoft Security is an exceptional choice to begin. It is free and made for windows. If you don't like it there are many choices.

Sadly enough it was KIS which caused problems, as soon I removed it folders stopped being laggy. Thanks all for help, gonna run on MSE till I figure out the issue with KIS.
