    Perfmon won't disable sampling

Even if I go from the "real administrator account" and uncheck "sample automatically" from the Performance monitor properties, if I close it, then open it, the checkbox is checked again!! I get the feeling it doesn't want to let me disable it. I'm getting a HD LED pulse every second like a clock. This could be the cause. Anyone know how to turn this off? If I go into Services applet the performance and notifications service is on Manual and not running, so that's not it.

It is not Performance Monitor...It is only active when you are actually running it. Or when a task is setup to fire it when you created an alert. Sample Automatically is for the graph to auto refresh.

I see. Thanks for the info. I'm getting LED light up every second so when I saw a 1 second interval there I thought I might have the culprit.

This is really getting annoying. 24 hours a day seven days a week this LED pulses every second!!

Cut the cables to the LED...will never pulse again. I'm being very serious.

Yeah, that's real helpful. I could unplug the PC too.

Hmmmmmm, whatever it is, it goes away when I disable the CDROM in device manager. I have AutoRun set to 0. That should fix it. Apparently not in W7.

As soon as I enable the CDROM in device manager, the 1 second ticking starts right up again.

Okay I can't change the headline afaik so if the Moderator wants to delete this topic that would be fine. It should likely be posted in the Drivers forum instead. I'll go there.
