Use Regshot to capture changes in the registry:
RegShot 1.8.2
I''ve been working with the registry since 1995 and was hired by PC Tools to work on their Registry Mechanic program.
Even I look over every entry in RegSeeker.
Like I said RegSeeker is not your typical registry cleaning program. It;s used to remove the left over entries from a regular registry Cleaner,''Thousands of hits, no wonder you didn't clean first.
BTW.............reghakr means registry hacker
I have used Regseeker on XP all these years with no untoward results. But, I always follow it with one that so many like, the awesome CCleaner. No problems.
However, I almost got into trouble! I just ran Regseeker on Windows 7 and it found 539 entries, but gave me an error in some other language when I tried to delete the results. That's when I visited here! Thanks! You guys saved my neck!
I have found that not a single registry cleaner by itself, or in conjunction with others (for years, I used to use 4 or 5 cleaners consecutively) on my XP machines with no problems. The only problem was that even after I ran the last one, which found entries missed by the others, incidentally, I saw many entries in the registry which should have been removed!! Not even CCleaner did the job.
In summary, no product out there does the job. As far as my Windows 7 PC is concerned, I will run only CCleaner on it. I will use Regseeker only to audit and print a list of applications installed on my W7 machine. I continue to use it on my XP machines, and have never looked through the list before deleting. However, I have been setting it not to backup - a change I will make!
Windows 7 is not XPired it doesn't need all that horse-hooey, it's perfectly optimized on its own; if you feel a need to fool around have a look at this tutorial at the link below.
How to Speed Up the Performance of Windows 7
Thank you, Bare Foot Kid. LOL. Yeah, I agree with you after visiting the link you supplied. I do like W7 better than XP, though I had to be dragged by my feet from the world of XP. I used to swear by SP3, which was pretty stable. But W7 is even better!
