svchost.exe using lots of memory
Hello, I noticed my memory usage was at 42%, when it is usually 25-30%. I opened task manager and found 12 different processes of svchost.exe running. One of then was using 149,156 k of memory, from which I understand is a whole lot.
Is this normal? And if it isn't how do I fix it? Thanks in advance. |

It's normal.
You can tweak your services by following the Black Viper guide: Windows 7 Service Configurations by Black Viper I'd get rid of the 2 instances of jusched starting with Windows. Also set Punkbuster services to manual. |

svchost.exe can be a great number of diffferent system services. If you could identify the exact service this svchost.exe is running, it would make it easier to interpret the number. Use Process Explorer http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb896653.aspx - there you can hover over the process and get some more info and then right click on it > Properties, and you get a lot more info.

I actually found 2 viruses (Win32 trojan or something) deleted it, and the memory usage was cut in half.

Let the pc stay on for a while. It will be back up where it should be.
As far as having infection - you should consider a clean install with a format. Once having something like that, you can never tell what it has done. Nobody can. |

I know, so far it has been fine after deleting. But if I find any problems that will be my first thing to do.
