Stop Power Options from being hidden

Hello I am new to this forum
(well, not really. I just decided to finally join after
reading awesome tips and tricks to tweak my windows for the past year :))

    Anway,

Basically when I had Windows Vista I was able to click on my power options icon
in the notification area and see all 3 options
(high performance, power saver, and balanced)

    The problem
    --------------
I have upgraded to Windows 7 and have noticed that
now when I click on the icon it will only display 2 of the 3 options
(the one I am currently using and another, such as "balanced" or "power saver")

Anytime I want to pick the option not displayed I have to right click the "more power options button" then click the one that is hidden.

this is a pretty petty problem but I do get quite annoyed
seeing as I change my power options VERY OFTEN
(college student going back and forth from plug in to battery)

Instead of lamenting on why this "hiding" thing was done anyway...
I would like to know if there is a way to change this setting to get the old
and dare I say better option in Vista

Your help is appreciated on this petty issue of mine.
    Thank you in advanced.

    Hello Tyberius,

This may be able to help. Be sure to try the items in the yellow TIP box as well.

System Icons - Enable or Disable

If not, this shortcut below that you can pin to the taskbar or Start Menu can help for now until we get this fixed for you.

Power Plan - Create Shortcut to Change Power Plan

    Hope this helps for now,
    Shawn

    thank you very much,

The shortcuts are definitely faster to access than the notification area icon.
at the expense of more icons on my desktop)

Still pondering as to changing the notification icon back to like it was in vista though.
(without the hiding of power options in the left click menu)

    Tyberius,

I'm having exactly the same problem, and I'm a student aswell! I've been looking for a solution to this for about a week and found nothing yet. Not even anyone else with the same problem until now :)

I'll keep checking back here and I'll post if I figure this out in the meantime.

    Good luck! lol!
