WEI Scores
I have 2x2GB of DDR3 1600mhz memory installed on my machine.
My WEI score is only 5.9. Can anyone help me understand why this is low?
You can see my system specs below.

I am wondering if it's running at 1600 Mhz. Have you set it in your BIOS? That may be an issue. Some boards you will have to set the speed in the BIOS.
You can check CPUz memory tab to see if you're running at 1600.
Dual channel will be 800(X2=1600) and triple channel will be 533 (533X3=1600)
If it's running at 1600, it's probably just the WEI...I would not put too much faith into it.
Yup. Originally my board ran it at 1066 (or 533x2) dual channel only.
I have it manually set and it is correctly reported in BIOS and CPUZ to be 1600mhz. (800mhzX2)
It had the 5.9 score with the 1066, and no bump up when I modified it with corrected timings and up to the 1600mhz.
I did increase my memory bandwidth though when this changed using winsat mem in an elevated command prompt.
Hmmmmmm,
I'm not sure why WEI would be reporting this. I am running 4GB of DDR3 1600Mhz and mine is 7.4.
I don't want to make you feel like I know more than you, because I may not, but have you got the timings and voltage set right. I'm sure you do.....
This also MAY have something to do with the CPU....I don't know.
I have heard a million times not loose too much sleep over the WEI as long as you are getting the performance your memory is designed for. I would test it with whatever utility you use (memtest, etc) and if you are seeing the performance, I wouldn't worry too much.
Maybe someone else has better advice. Mine is to make sure the memory is performing and forget about the WEI.
His CAS is 9 if he has it set right, it's in his system specs. This is a good idea however. This screenshot would show us what's up.
Good idea tranqueirex.
Doesn't WEI reports the lowest score? I believe that 5.9 is because of the HD, I have myself scores going from 6.8 to 7.2 but the HD is 5.9 and that sets my WEI at 5.9.
Here you go.
CPU Z and WEI Scores.
I did have the memory indicated wrong for timings, but the 9 stands.
Any ideas?
I would run a stress test like Prime95 or Orthos making sure you pick the test that stresses your RAM
OR
Run memtest
If it passes with no errors, forget about it. It's just one of those WEI things people have complained about for years.
