    Start Menu Search missing...

I am having troubles with my windows start menu search not operating. I am using tune-up utilities 2010 and I have it to optimize my system. Well apparently one of the optimizations was turning off windows search. I have tried everything to turn this back on. I always run my programs for a week then if I have no troubles I delete backups for space saving. Anyhow I can not find in tune-up how to turn this back on and so far everything I tried via windows is not turning it back on. Do you think uninstalling tune-up will fix this issue. I did sfc/scan and nothing is wrong with system.

    Hello BMK,

Double check in Windows Features to make sure that Windows Search is checked. If it is, then you can see if doing a system restore using a restore point dated when Search was working properly may be able to fix it for you.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features
turn Windows features on or off
Windows search is checked and still nothing. All restore points are deleted ...I only keep most recent. I'm thinking tune-up is blocking something.

I'm not familiar with Tune-up's options, but you might go through all of them one by one and undo any that you think may be it one at a time to test and see.

If all else fails, and after uninstalling Tune-up it still does not help, then you can do a repair install.
