win 7, R2

winsat 4641.65 MB/s to 4755.66 MB/s, with 30,720 MB

My winsat mem scores suck, but I make up for it
in total memory (Total Physical Memory:30,720 MB)

Ill get some sticks in soon, and see how that changes things,
8 4gb sticks, and possibly some 2gb sticks.
For now I have 10 open slots to fill.
http://www.introtrend.co.kr/images/p..._win_sam04.gif
(let me know if you have any 2 or 4 gig sticks of DDR PC2100 around)

It"s a shame that win7 only will see 2 physical CPU's, but I will
boot into 203r2, or just live with it.

I'm really a novice at this stuff but I like learning about it. I'm not sure what this means exactly but maybe you can help.

Good/Bad/Okay? Can it be improved?

Thx
Don

Hey Don. That looks good to me. Memory timings match what it says it should. No worries with this. All good.

Seems though that you can get an outrageous overclock on that processor! And you seem to be very underclocked right now at 2 GHz (look at core speed) when stock should be 3.16 GHz. And you can take it all the way up to over 4 GHz!

That is wierd b/c I have the multiplier set to 9.5 in the bios. and it reads 3.16 at start up. I'm at work now but when I am home I will look more closely at it so see if I have missed something.

I am interested in overclocking but have never done it. I will take a look at the link.

Thx
Don

Ya. I'm not familiar with your precise hardware but something definitely seems off.

You're welcome.

Here's mine. Compare to my system specs.

that is probably just the intel speed step or something as you can see the FSB is running at 1333 and the multiplier is at x6 so at idle the cpu is using less power. i set up my HTPC like this as it just runs win7 media center and thats about it but under load it returns the multiplier back to x9 to make 3ghz to speed things up.

when you go into your bios, go into cpu features, and disable all of them (except the cores)

and yeh the e8xxx series overclock well, i got my e8400 at 4.22 on air cooling. but you have to check your vcore to ensure its not too high otherwise you risk damaging the cpu.

yeah that seems to be what is happening b/c it does jump up to 3.16 dependning on what you are doing.

Disable what features?

Thx

CPU Speed, BCLK and Memory Speed: Boot failure.
Probably I am in the right section for this issue. If not, please move it. A couple of days ago I changed the motherboard and processor, but not the RAM as the RAM is apparently compatible with that board as stated in GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1150 - GA-B85M-D3H (rev. 1.0/1.1) ... Now, I...

Memory Assessment Speed
Just a curious question; I ran winsat mem a couple of weeks ago and got a 13600+ read. Ran it today and got 15985 read. Only system change was adding a Radeon 6670 Video card. Does memory speed change this much ? What might cause the disparity ?

Memory speed
I have 4 Gb of corsair 1600MHz C9 DDR3 memory installed on an Asus Crosshair III Formula 790FX motherboard. The motherboard specs said that it supported 1600 MHz memory, yet the memory is only running at 1333 MHz. Do I need to OC the M/board in someway to get the full speed out of the memory...
