What is your configuration, 6X2GB or 3X4GB?

What does the CPUZ Memory tab say?

Having 8 out of 12 is not good, have you tried re-seating them?
CPUZ sees 12 gigs. I have swapped ram around. My Intel dealer replace the ram. We have sent the motherboard back to Asus, got the same one back. I have tried 3 different bios. Run the bios at default (Auto) and many many o/c and everything I could find on line. Re-seating cpu cooler many times. I can't get over 1600 with the ram because it won't boot trying all kinds of settings. 6X2, 2 sets of matched ram.

Very nice! I really wish the Dominator I got recently worked... You've got the 800MHz version, right?

Thanks. It's 1066 actually, I'm just running it at 1000Mhz as that's where it ends up with a 250FSB.

I don't need to point out you have some serious issues here.

Must be a bad mobo? Did they test the mobo with 12gb in before sending it back?

Sounds like you have exhausted all other avenues.

Thanks, I knew all that tweaking would be worth it eventually

I tested with MaxxMemm when I was tweaking and was surprised at how much difference some settings made (and how little others made). I'll try and find my notes!

I found this, not sure if it works -

    i7 930, ASUS P6X58D, 12GB OCZ DDR3 Showing up as 8GB - My fix - Overclock.net - Overclocking.net

Edit, sorry I know its not your memory but the mobo is the same and he had the same issue
