    David's explanation.

    Ram is a parking garage.
Ram speed is how fast you can get them in the garage per minute per lane.
Capacity is how many you can park in the garage.

This part is just made up for demonstration.

Mine is 4 garages and lanes parking 100 cars a minute per lane. 400 total @minute.

Yours is 2 garages and lanes at 150 cars @minute. 300 total @minute.

That is not anywhere accurate just a generalization but explains it to where even I understood it 10 years ago.
My first PC book was XP for Dummys.

I gotcha Mike. I have run it both ways and the 2x4GB is a bit better, I think maybe because having all 4 slots populated slows it some. Or it's because, of the two memory controllers in the CPU, it works better with having to contol only one slot each.

Hmmmmmmm. Well I do notice that you guys are running a 2-tick Command Rate. Is that something you set or did your BIOS set that? If you did set it, was it because of OCing? Here's my "stock" timings.

That is what bios set mine at 2T.

    I don't know why. I'm under clocked.

    8GB@1400MHz Crucial Ballistix DDR3-1600 4x2GB 1.5v

Next step up in the Bios is 1680 not 1600. 1.85v if memory serves me correctly.

In usage it was not noticeably faster at 1680.
