wow those mem scores are impressive! what timings and how much ram have you got in that setup?
It's not the memory, it's the integrated memory controller.

I would like to see someone's memory scores with a Core i7 build.

man my xfx 790 must be a shocker then with 8800mb/s tops

look back through the posts im sure there are some i7 x58's with some insane scores.

is there a way to improve it without changing the mobo? (i doubt it but i thought id ask)

the core i7 has a integrated memory controler ala amd now...
so by replacing the cpu you are also replacing the mem controller...

otherwise you do need to replace the mb
or you can overclock your fsb (which i dont know if it would do much good...)
but with good timimings it might...

so do the E or Q series 775's play a role in acting as a 'memory controller'? or is it just the design of the new i7's?

i have seen others with lower spec ram hitting around the same if not better on DDR2

as for o.cing it does not make much difference, i experimented with that already. 8/8/8/24 1800 t2 running at 8/7/6/16 1801 t2 with stock 1.9v interleaved dual channel, 100% stable with those settings even with memtest,p95,intel b.t. LinX.

although im happy with the way its running even on a beta o.s. its flawless, just sound and minor sli issues remaining.
but like anyone, if you know it could be performing better, you want it!

    cheers
    Rick

EDIT two prime examples posted below...meh amd cpus...nice scores btw! i am extremely jealous
