Cleanup the MSCONFIG startup tab listings in Windows 7

Hi all, in Win XP and Vista you could delete leftover msconfig startup entries, for disabled or uninstalled programs by following these instructions. However, in Win 7, it appears as though startupfolder and startupreg are missing from the MsConfig directory in regedit. Where are the disabled startup entries located in Win 7?

Others will have to give you an answer, but I can advise .Back up your registry and make a system image before you start.

    Hello Nabilalk,

You might also look at METHOD FOUR in the tutorial below to see if they are in any of these registry locations for startup programs as well. I would strongly agree with Rich that you should create a restore point first before digging around the registry to help be safe.

    Hope this helps,

Instead of going into the registry, try StartupCPL:

The CCleaner trick was the easiest. Thanks.

Autoruns can delete entries too in the logon tab.
