You have a single core atom processor in that computer, it will never be a power house. The "netbooks" are meant for only web browsing and some lite document processing. If you need something faster sell it and buy a real laptop.

As far as an AV, Microsoft Security Essentials is free and has a pretty small footprint. Maybe worth a try

Chop the msconfig startup list from any HP bloatware. Honestly, netbooks are pointless. Weak, small and too limited.

An SSD would certainly help - but that is an investment. E.g. this one Newegg.com - OCZ Vertex Series OCZSSD2-1VTX60G 2.5" 60GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - Solid State Disks

if you are using the laptop via the mains, you can set it to run at High Performance in the Power Options, via the Control Panel
it may be set to Balanced Performance to save battery power.. |

+2 You probably wont notice anything, it may suck off 30 minutes to an hour off your cap 6 hour battery life... but it woudl be an improvement. There isnt much you can do with a netbook, as stated above, it was created solely for Lite browsing/Processing. |

How to make file transfer from my laptop to a CD/DVD much faster? Hello! So, well right now I am copying files (around 3.6GB) to a DVD. The thing is though, it is taking much more longer than it should take (apparently, it should take only 5-10 minutes?). It says it'll take **4 HOURS** for the file transfer to finish. Why is it that it is taking so long? ... |

How can I make it faster? I'm pretty comfortable with the performance. But, just for shits, I'd like to see how far I can take it without it being unstable. I ran 3DMark06 and systems with lower specs were destroying my scores. Curious as to why? Also, I have an original ATI Radeon 5850. Can I run, lets say an XFX,... |
