Does a windows 7 repair disc work on windows vista?

    Hello everyone!

I am new to Windows 7 and I know basic information on computers but I was wondering if I could create a repair disc on my Desktop PC and use it on my laptop which has Windows Vista and install Windows 7 on the laptop using the repair cd. Just a fun fact that I thought would be cool to do. Well hope to hear from you soon! Thanks for your time.

The repair CD only holds the repair console and not the install files.

If you mean you want to create a "System Image Disk" in Windows 7, that does indeed contain much more than just the recovery console.

But its purpose is to get you up and running after a catastrophic failure.

What you are, in effect, wanting to do is install a copy of Windows licensed to one computer on to a second computer. That's a clear violation of the license agreement, and is considered software theft in every United Nations member country!

So, while it may be a fun project to try, it might get you jail time, a hefty fine, and a felony criminal record too!
