Will readyboost make xfer's faster between my PC &

my ext HDD ? I have Win7 now. I have a internal 1TB HHD sitting in a ext dock bay hooked up to my pc USB 2.0. When I xfer my large files or sometimes 100-200 gigs it can sometimes take hours to do so. Just wondering if this ready boost applies to this situation. I can't check this right now I'm at work and won't be home for a while. thanks

    Hi Davv. Welcome to SevenForums.:)

The quick answer is no, it will not speed up the transfer speeds between your drives.

ReadyBoost is a feature of Windows 7 which uses flash memory on a USB drive to boost system performance. It uses the USB drive as a hard disk cache and/or virtual memory store to speed up file access and increase the apparent RAM available.

This operation would have no noticeable effect on the transfer speed of files between your hard drives.

    Hope this helps.

Your transfer speed to an external HDD is governed by the USB2 speed of 480 Mbit/s - unless you attech the external to an eSata port ( 3Gbit/sec). Make the calculation: 480Mbit/sec is appr. 50MByte/sec
