    I don't get any real improvement in my boot time by turning off startups. But I can get large decreases in boot times by disabling unneeded services.

    I found the following link to be pretty helpful in figuring out what services I needed or didn't need.

    Windows 7 Service Configurations by Black Viper

    Just keep in mind what services you do or don't need is going to vary from person to person. It took me many hours of tweaking to get mine to be just rite for me. But since I have done so my average boot is 23 seconds and 31 seconds for reboots.

    OMG, my Asus EeePc reboots in 63" whereas my desktop does it in 72"

    I should have O/Ced that little baby computer instead of the big one, I'd gain better performance!

    It's probably legit, I'm at 16 seconds on mine. Boot racer doesn't include time to post and such in it's measurements.

    correct there. it don't take into account POST. just OS - Desktop.

    using the vbs, best i got was 19 seconds still. Thanks AHCI

    If I turn on AHCI, I get a nice 8 second delay during the POST while my computer initializes the controller. Thus, I leave AHCI disabled as I don't get enough gain over the course of using my computer to earn back the lost 8 seconds.
