No tweaking specifically for this test. Just an air cooled q6600@3.6 with good ram, a good lp case and a vertex w/ f/w 1.5. Cheap, old and fast.

so if running in AHCI adds about 6/8 seconds, for post ect. and say i use IDE, then i should get a Time that is somthing silly in Bootracer? i mean right now in AHCI its 13 seconds, when i reboot (every 5 days lol)

    hmm worth a try no?

Well, I got some time today to work on my computer. I updated my Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R rev 1.1 BIOS from F9 to F12. I then set it to use AHCI. My delay dropped with this BIOS upgrade from 8 seconds to 2 seconds...plus there is now an option in this BIOS for a faster boot which I enabled.

I ran reboot racer and got the following now on my box...so things are a bit quicker than they were. I've done no tweaking. This is with everything on per a standard Windows 7 install.

Approximately 50 seconds. I can't post a screenshot because BootRacer never finished

I took 5 seconds off my time because that's about the amount of time it takes for my keyboard and mouse to be detected through my usb hub. No idea why that happens, but oh well. I'm not too worried that it takes so long either because I'm on a MBP.

20 Seconds After BIOS Hand Off

20 seconds after BIOS hand off and that is after a clean install and software installation. I have a one character log in and here is the kicker. . . . I haven't yet done a Windows update. I suspect that I will get the usual 90 plus seconds everyone else get after Windows Update.

Can anyone tell me how I can stop BootRace to run every time I reboot even though I chose run 'only once' when I tested it?
