Gary, don't worry about it. nobody here, except maybe startas, thinks your computer is crap. Does it really make a difference if your computer starts in 28 seconds or 40 seconds? I doubt 12 seconds is the difference in a good computer and a piece of crap. Only someone who doesn't understand anything about computers would think that.
    Couldn't agree more.

With this laptop of mine (no SSD) I can get reboot time down to about 35 to 40 seconds, to proudly post here and tell "Look guys, a laptop and no SSD!". But then before really starting to use it I would need to launch a bunch a background processes, disabled to get a nice screenshot, to start working. I've settled to a 55 second reboot time. Does it affect my everyday computer usage? Of course not, I boot once a day and only reboot when Windows Update tells me to do so and that does not happen very often.

Personally I have always failed to see the relevance of this kind of ego boosting, as well as for instance "Look! I got this good Windows Experience Index!". Both of these have next to nothing to do with functionality of your PC, the fact that you have made the best out of it for it to work for you.

I prefer programs and applications starting up faster rather than a fast reboot time.........I only reboot about once a week. I was actually surprised it reboots so quickly because if I'd guessed, I would have said 45s-1m....that shows you how infrequently I restart my PC!

Gary, you are probably right, it's the Asus stuff, and the ASMedia controllers.

Hey Gary, my computer must be a pile of crap as well! If we lived closer we could wander down to the local pub and drown our sorrows together!

I dont really care if your pc is crap or not, that wasnt most important thing i wanted to say I was just saying, that its not bad to know something about your pc, like if it has performance problems, what causes it, what other bad things can happen to your pc because of something, that causes performance problems. If you would know, what performance you should get with your pc components, then you could compare you actual performance with performance, that you should get, and then you would see, if everything is ok with your pc. Even if your pcs numbers are not bad, its performance says differently, unless there is a logical reason, what causes it, like startup programs :) And if you dont care about boot time, it can say few things about your pc (yeah, maybe it doesnt affect you calculations, but it definitely is affecting other programs start time), like if it works as it should, i.e., i now have laptop with core i3 2.4 ghz and c300 ssd, you can call it whatever you want, but most important thing is that its working as it should.

P.S. And as i can see, you guys definitely arent pro's/skilled in computers, cause you just found one bad word and started to cry and telling heroic stories about me, without reading everything first and trying to understand, what in my post was actually important :)

There is no cut-and-dry recipe for computer systems and performance. Two machines with identical hardware/software will have different levels of performance(that's Computers 101 my friend), and just because Computer A doesn't run identical to Computer B, it doesn't mean something is wrong with one or the other. I'm happy to hear your laptop is running so well, that does give one a sense of accomplishment, I suppose. As most of us here are tinkerers/tweakers, we often run into problems with our systems......that's just part of it! The real test is how you deal with a problem when you are faced with it.

And to say the people on this forum aren't "Pro's", well, I'll give you that because a big portion of us have other jobs/careers and computers are our passion/hobby. To say the people on this forum aren't "skilled" in computers shows your lack of intelligence and your inability to activate your brain before your fingers. Settle down little fella, lest you find your experience here to be unpleasant.....and if that is your intent, ie trolling, well, I can assure you we have lost members far greater than yourself for a lot less...

Trolling maybe you are, but not me. Yet again, you just cant understand what i wrote, so your comment doesnt make any sense. I didnt said that you all arent pro's, just few who cry. And thats how computers work - identical computers with identical hardware/software should work identically in theory, and at least 95 % resemblance practically. Its not like computer didnt like the taste of electricity this morning and it decided to not work today, trolololol. But if you think that way, then, well, good luck.

I am not a "pro" by any stretch of the imagination and I am not "crying" about the performance of my computer. A few seconds difference in boot times is totally irrelevant in my humble opinion.

Maybe, i dont know why you cry. Yes, few seconds doesnt make any sense to cry, but 2x boot time with better hardware - i personaly would be a little nervous :) But thats just me. Anyway, i just wanted help, thats the main reason of this forum, right ? And someone took few my words too deep into his heart, so i cant help people with that kind of attitude.
