Yes, once AVG 9 corrupted on me. It developed a massive memory leak, and I ended up uninstalling it. Now I use MSE. Talk about a blessing in disguise, huh?

Having a software firewall on my system is highly important to me for several reasons (which I don't want to get into in this thread), and Comodo Firewall is one of the best (imo). Over many years, this is the first time one of their updates screwed up my system and they issued a corrective update which cured the problem within 2 days. I'll be continuing to use Comodo's excellent firewall on my system.

However, I only use the Firewall portion of Comodo Internet Security, so for me, it is only a firewall and nothing more.

And if you paid for it you wasted yoru money,,,, learn how to use the incredibly advanced firewall provided with the OS you already have.

    Start Here

My point is,, there is no reason for people to buy a firewall, 7 has a very good one already.

Summary: The Windows 7 Firewall refines the much-improved firewall that was included in Windows Vista, and brings its "hidden" advanced features out into the open. Many users, including some IT professionals, were unaware that you could filter outbound traffic, monitor and otherwise perform advanced configuration tasks for the Vista firewall, because none of that was apparent from the Firewall applet in Control Panel. With Windows 7, Microsoft has created a built-in host firewall that is much more functional than its predecessors and now poses a viable alternative to third party host firewall products.

My friend, you obviously are not familiar with the Comodo firewall. It's totally free and always has been.

If you are happy with the WF, that's great. Many people are happy with the Windows Backup and Restore feature as well, but others, including myself, prefer to use a 3rd party solution such as Acronis that even costs money, just as others, again such as myself, prefer to use Comodo's outstanding firewall, which in this case happens to be free.

But each to their own. I'm not promoting the use of Comodo. I just thought I'd update the thread with the solution to the problem I described earlier. Didn't mean to spark an off topic debate.

Sure, that's fair. Different people have different opinions. Thanks for sharing yours. :)
