well yes but over a period of time as the hdd fills, the system will take longer to find the files you need so having a knock on effect of slowing the pc down, so on a fresh install you have a fast pc
So If I increase 10Gb space (from 20Gb to 30Gb) to drive C then it will make my computer more faster .
The more free space, the better.
- Keep your Drive Defragmented as much as possible.
- Use some of your "Free Space" to increase the size of your Windows Page File to reduce the amount of RAM used.
- Constantly clean your computer (Temp Files, Net Cache, Cookies, etc..) by using something like CCleaner.
Those 3-Steps above will maximize your Hard Drive Performance and life-span.
Up to a point it matters. For example, if your computer hard drive is nearly at 100% capacity...so you will be dealing with a lot of extra fragmentation and such.
However, if you have a 500GB hard drive and are only using 35GB...It's not really going to change performance if you go from 460GB free to 430GB free of even 350GB free.
So, I would not go to any extraordinary lengths to keep my hard drive as clean as possible in hopes of seeing increased performance.
