Can't access System Protection options

Dangit, all I want is System Restore turned on...!

I'm able to get to the System Protection tab and open the window, but I can't do anything except look at what's turned on or off; all options (System Restore, Configure, Create) are greyed out and labeled 'disabled by administrator'. Thing is, I AM the administrator, and I haven't been able to figure out how to get system restore running without going through that option. No other user accounts exist on this computer, nor does anyone except me use it...

Please help! I'm going crazy trying to access my own computer.

    1.
Open System by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking System.

In the left pane, click System Protection. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. To turn on System Protection for a hard disk, select the check box next to the disk, and then click OK.

Stevy, I tried your control user passwords suggestion but nothing changed. The first post you made is precisely my problem; all options in the System Protection window are ghosted and I can't change them, as they are "disabled by my system administrator".

Whats your windows Log on ID and what does it say as a security role when you go to control userpasswords2... This seems to be with the problem of the administrative rights.. let me know what does it say next to your user account information
    Letme send you an attachment
    Take a look at it........

My account username is my first name, and under Groups it does get classified as "Administrators." Aside from my username not being Admin, the window looks identical to the screenshot you provided.

    Same Issue

I have been experiencing exactly the same issue. My account is Admin and everything under System Properties\ System Protection tab is greyed out with the reasoning being the Admin has diabled. I have recently removed Anitmalware Doctor and suspect this has had impact. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

There's probably a value in the registry called "DisableConfig" or "DisableSR" at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\SystemRestore. Open regedit, browse to that key, and if either value exists, delete and reboot the PC. You should get your System Restore tab back after doing this.

Checked in the registry just now, I don't have DisableConfig but I do have DisableSR. I know better than to piddle around with the registry if I don't know what it does, but... Should I?
