Most likely it's not going to go up much. You might be able to install an updated driver from ATI and get it to increase just a little bit. It's a laptop and those video cards aren't powerhouses.

I wouldn't worry much about this...the WEI is pretty much meaningless. If it makes you feel any better, my work laptop which runs Windows 7 great only scores a 3.4. 5.9 for CPU, 5.9 for memory, 3.4 for aero graphics, 5.3 for gaming graphics and 5.9 for the hard drive.

My specs are Dell E6400, Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 at 2.4Ghz, 4GB of RAM, 160GB Seagate Momentus 7200.3 7200RPM hard drive.

Does it matter what Microsoft rates your Laptop at?
Check my system specs and you will find that I have a Quad Extreme CPU 4 gig of ram and it would run rings around a lot of computers with much higher WEI scores
I do not game and therefore installed a 8600 graphics card.
    I have a WEI score of 5.8

Its seems to be a mystery why your gaming score would be higher then what Aero can squeeze out. Anyway, my desktop 4890 scores 7.6 for both - the scores matter - if its too low 7 switches Aero off.

Not necessarily, it might go up or down, if there are drivers available.

If this is the only problem you have, you are in good shape.

I believe that I have seen aero run on a box with a score of about 2...so it would have to be pretty low.

Yes, 1.0. And if the HDD score is high enough, defrags are switched off. The scores for new games also give an indication, so the WEI is fairly useful.
