Windows 7: HDD freezing periodically

Windows 7 Ultimate Retail Box (64-bit installed) + Service Pack 1
 
 

1 hard drive in the system, that's a major issue when the system has to touch virtual memory. Need a 2nd HD for virtual memory or at least a 4-gig USB drive for Ready Boost. (what I use on older PC with 2 gigs on Windows 7.)
As long as it works, understanding is not important! M$'s apparent mantra, LOL! I could postulate all day on this, but would need a M$ Windows dev for the real answer.

Thumbnails deleted periodically?
Hi all, I find that every once in a while my thumbnails keep getting deleted/wiped. It happens at least once a month or so. It affects both images and video. I use windows 7 ultimate x64. I have the win7codec pack installed with x64 components. The only thing I really use for video is windows...
