Unistall or Change A Program Listing Empty

After uninstalling an application via the Unistall or Change A Program facility in Control Panel, the list of installed programs is completely empty. I then went into regedit and found the following entry gone:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

What can I do? I use the Backup facility weekly to back up my files, but does it include the registry? And if so, can the registry be restored from backup?

    Welcome

Registry is suppose to be included in the system restore points.
You have the problem, now. If you know when it started go back a few days prior and check the results. If you make a SR point before starting, you cannot lose.

I just recently upgraded to Windows 7 from WinXP two weeks ago. It doesn't appear that the installation process set up restore point creations automatically. The C drive didn't have System Protection turned on so I have no restore points to restore from.
