this is a store bought, pre-built computer? just guessing, but it maybe there is a chipset limitation for your board.

i'm running an am2+ phenom II x4 940 -- processor subscore in wei is 7.3. but, this is a pc i put together and there are many settings in the bios that pertain to cpu adjustment that a branded computer such as yours may not possess. (with mine, however, i did not have to make any changes in the bios that pertain to cpu.)

    again, just a guess.

and... just checked the specs on your machine... it came with an athlon 64X2, which is am2/am2+ and you dropped an am3 processor in the machine. though the am3 socket is backward compatible with am2+, you may not see all of the benefits of that 955 processor when it is running in an am2+ socket.

Hi Yes I have to change my profile now to AMD Phenom II 955 BE. I build this now and WEI score of 6.6 What do you think it could be? All 4 cores are running in Device Manager.

Hate to quote myself, but is this still in the same Compaq in your specs, or on a different computer/motherboard?

to ride on stormy13's coattail, and to paraphrase: did you drop the 955 be in your compaq or do you have another computer / motherboard that you installed this processor into? if you have another computer / motherboard that you installed this processor into, then there is an obvious problem that needs to be looked further into. however, if you installed this processor into your compaq, then this:

matter of fact, if i remember correctly, installing an am3 processor into an am2+ socket will have the hypertransport link run at the am2+ specs and not the am3 specs. there is probably more than that, but i cannot remember right now. in essence, you have that processor (unintentionally) crippled because that you are running it in an am2+ socket.

this all applies if you have that nice 955 be installed in your compaq, though.

Forget my specs, this is a whole new system and I have to update those specs on this site

    New specs are Asus M4A785-M

AMD Phenom II 955 BE 3.2 MHZ

8GB 1066 OCZ Fatality Ram 2 gb sticks each

    Nvidia 9600 GSO

Goin back to the original question, Just wondering why my WEI would say 6.6 for processor only when I read others have 7.4 for this processor?

The board may be a dud - can you try a different mobo?

Yea you have some issue there. I have the Phenom II X4-910 (D) 2.6 GHz and i have a raiting of 7.2 for the cpu. Did you setup the Bios manually or did you load the defaults and run with them?

I figured out the problem. I had to re-install windows 7 clean install. I did not know that. Tech at AMD said sometimes windows does not reconize new hardware like processor. Now rating is at 7.4
