    Startup Repair problems?

I need some help, I went to start up my computer this morning and when it booted up it asked me to start it normally or to do the startup repair, I chose to start it up normally but it still took me to the startup repair. It said it might take over an hour to complete so I left and when I came back an hour later it was still going, that was 4 hours ago, and it is still running right now. I tried restarting the computer again and it took me right back to it and has had the same screen up since. I don't know what to do, it is very frustrating because I just got this computer not even two months ago. Please can someone help me??

If you can, turn off the computer. During boot hit f8 constantly, you will get to safe mode. In safe mode try to do a system restore.

This didn't work :/ It took me straight back to the startup repair screen, it says it is "Attempting Repairs" just like before. Is there anything else I can try?

    safe mode

in safe mode go to START > RUN > MSCONFIG

once u do that click on startup and disable all the options

apply and then ok; after that restart ur pc and boot in a normal way - once u do that u can go to START and enable them all again.

hope it works as i had the same problem with my laptop and now it works again :)

Make a Repair CD, boot it and run Startup Repair repeatedly from the Recovery TOols list: Startup Repair
    System Repair Disc - Create

Next try marking Win7 Active and then running Startup Repair again up to 3 separate times with reboots: Partition - Mark as Active

If these fail then copy your data out using the Repair CD: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console

Then run your Recovery partition, Recovery Disks, or Win7 installer for your licensed version.

    stuck at startup repair

I to am stuck at startup repair. I tried to do a repair disc and repeatedly do startup repair. But I've done like 7 startup repairs after using the repair disc. I've also tried going to safemode and goes to startup repair. tried system restore goes to startup repair. Tried system restore in safe mode. You guessed it, goes to startup repair.

And I'm not tech savvy enough to do the Mark as Active idea or the copy and paste idea.

Then boot free Partition Wizard bootable CD, rightclick on the 100mb System Reserved partition, or if you don't have it the Win7 partition itself, to Modify>Set to Active. Free Download Magic Partition Manager Software - Partition Wizard Online

Next on the PW CD DIsk tab, select Rebuild MBR. See if that starts it.

If not, go back and boot the Installation DVD Repair console or Repair CD, run Startup Repair again up to 3 separate times with reboots to see if Win7 will start.

If you can't copy out your files using the DVD/Repair CD with the method above (simple) then copy out your data using free Paragon Rescue CD: Rescue Kit Free Edition | PARAGON Software Group - free partition software, hard disk partitioning

Then run your Recovery Disks you should have made when you set up your factory pre-installed Win7 computer, or run the Recovery Partition itself using the key given for Factory Recovery on first screen, or in your Manual on the Support Downloads webpage for your computer model. We can help you do this.

Or find a Win7 installer to clean reinstall after wiping the HD of possible infection or corruption: re-install windows 7

Hey Gregrocker, thanks for all the advice. But I must admit, me no sabe. Lmao. I mean, it's all greek to me. Umm, errr, I'm just not that intune with computers. What's a partition? What happens if i do that and it doesn't work. Or does, do I have to reset it? Thought I read somewhere to be careful with that. And what do you mean by copy out? And I installed windows 7 myself. The computer came with vista. I will have to look for a manual. That last one, I dread. Hate to have to reinstall. I'd lose pics and music that I have not yet saved.
